I harvested the first bag of potatoes today. Not a huge harvest but I’m happy with the result. I plan to boil the baby ones for dinner, add a knob of butter and mint from the allotment.
I also picked some silverbeet, kale, beans and parsley.
Happy gardening.

The little ones are the best treat. I miss them already. Now I’ll have to wait until next spring again. Enjoy!

WOOT Jean! What a wonderful harvest! We just planted out 2 veggie beds full of vegetable futures (hopefully 😉 ) and can only begin to imagine a crop like yours. I adore potatoes…if they were in human form Steve might have a problem! I can actually imagine the sweet tender taste of them steamed and dripping in minted butter and its only 5.44am! I am going to get planting some silverbeet and kale in some more garden beds (yet to be made) soon. We are going great guns with our veggie garden bed production but today its steadily raining on Serendipity Farm and so I think we might have to postpone our blackberry culling event and focus on cooking indoors 🙂 Cheers for another amazing and inspirational post 🙂

Always remember Jean…a tonne of knowledge isn’t worth anything unless you know how to apply it! Thats where Steve and I have had to go back to basics and learn how to apply what we have learned. You are WAY up there in the practical while we are scratching our heads over how to apply what we have learned sometimes 🙂

Hi Fran. I have found it helps that I garden in an allotment attached to a community garden where there are plenty of folk around who can give me practical advice.

Hi Plotcraft. They certainly were. I think the butter helps, I don’t usually dollop butter on (the waistline you know!) but sometimes it’s only butter that will do it.

One of the first treats from the garden is when we have creamed new potatoes and early peas. My mouth is watering now.
