It’s busy down at the farm

I keep my allotment at Beelarong Community Farm and there is a lot happening down there at the moment.

We have received a grant to improve our building and paths to make them more accessible, and to build some raised garden beds designed for use by people in wheelchairs.

A replacement raised garden bed and a second one built with wheel chair access, as well as plenty of room for those who can use the raised garden.

A concreted foot path leading to the new raised garden beds and to our new tool shed extension. This is much needed and will help to shade the ever-growing enthusiastic Wednesday morning tea eaters and other activities. Little ones have not been forgotten with a kiddies enclosure planned.  (They can still use their little trowels out on the land too, as always).

So when I turned up for our usual Wednesday morning gathering of volunteers and allotment holders there was plenty of work to do in preparation as we are expecting a professional plumber to do some work in the next few days.

I will show you the morning in pictures.

John clearing some ground

Brian barrowing used bricks

Brian and young Tim moving bricks to use as rubble in the new development

Building up the brick pile

Craig, John and Brian

Di and Maria clearing herbs from the raised bed. The plumber will need access.

Helen washing up after morning tea. They had already removed the sink!

Marion working in the community garden (wearing her brand new coolie hat)

John’s back was turned so we jumped on the tractor

Happy gardening.

Tractors and Trailers

This post is specially for my son who told me ages ago that although he thinks my vegetable pics are ok and all that, what about  tractors and the big stuff.  Steve, here it is, not one, but three pics taken of John driving the tractor at the farm yesterday as it does it’s stuff.

Now just because one of our regulars Peter ( he’s the one without the sun glasses) and a new member (who’s obviously been to Spec Savers) couldn’t miss a photo opportunity – here is a pic of the farm trailer and a couple of ‘media tarts’ pushing it.  Note: this pic was not photo-shopped as both blokes are good-looking enough!

Happy gardening.
